CORAK KOMUNIKASI KELUARGA DALAM KALANGAN KELUARGA MELAYU DI TERENGGANU (Patterns of Family Communication in Malay Families in Terengganu)
Abstract
Kajian ini memberi tumpuan kepada aspek komunikasi keluarga kerana kepentingannya terhadap keberkesanan hubungan kekeluargaan. Tumpuan diberikan kepada dua bentuk orientasi komunikasi iaitu orientasi perbualan dan orientasi konformiti. Orientasi perbualan merujuk kepada keterbukaan ibu bapa dalam berkomunikasi dengan anak-anak di mana wujudnya hubungan dua hala di antara ibu bapa dan anak. Orientasi konformiti merujuk kepada bentuk komunikasi yang rigid di mana memberi penekanan kepada autoriti ibu bapa khususnya dalam membuat keputusan. Kedua-dua bentuk komunikasi tersebut adalah signif ikan kepada hubungan keluarga. Kajian telah dijalankan ke atas keluarga Melayu di Terengganu yang melibatkan tiga individu iaitu ibu, bapa dan anak. Pemilihan sampel dijalankan dengan memilih pelajar di sekolah-sekolah bagi mewakili anak, dan seterusnya melibatkan ibu bapa pelajar yang terpilih. Seramai 435 pelajar (anak), 300 ibu dan 277 bapa terlibat dalam kajian ini. Pengumpulan data berdasarkan kepada soal selidik yang dijawab sendiri oleh responden iaitu a) maklumat demograf i, dan b) maklumat komunikasi keluarga. Alat kajian yang digunakan untuk mengukur pola komunikasi keluarga ialah Revised Family Communication Pattern yang dibina oleh Ritchie dan Fitzpatrick (1990). Secara keseluruhannya dapatan kajian menunjukkan responden mengamalkan kedua- dua bentuk orientasi komunikasi perbualan dan konformiti pada tahap sederhana. Kajian juga menunjukkan bahawa komunikasi dapat menjelaskan tahap perhubungan di antara ahli keluarga.
