Author Guidelines

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

e-Bangi Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities accepts manuscripts written in Malay or English. All submissions must be original contributions and must not have been previously published or be under consideration by any other journal or publication.

Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format and submitted exclusively through the journal’s online submission system. A separate cover page, uploaded as a supplementary file, should contain the full names of all authors, institutional affiliations, contact telephone numbers, current email addresses, and a brief biographical note.

The corresponding author is responsible for submitting the manuscript and for all communication with the journal during the review and publication process. All co-authors must be registered in the online system, and the corresponding author must ensure that the metadata for each co-author are accurately completed at the time of submission.

While a manuscript is under consideration, the corresponding author must promptly inform the Editor of any changes in contact details. The assigned article identification number (e.g., #12345) should be cited in all correspondence with the journal.

Author and reviewer user guides are available for download from the journal’s homepage.

FORMAT AND STYLE

Manuscripts should be 4,000–6,000 words, excluding references, and formatted in single-column layout. The title must be concise and descriptive.

Manuscripts written in English must demonstrate a satisfactory standard of academic English and should be professionally proofread where necessary. Manuscripts written in Malay must include an English title and abstract.

Abstracts should be 200–250 words and must clearly summarize the problem statement, objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications of the study. Each abstract must be followed by five (5) keywords, separated by semicolons.

All figures, tables, charts, and graphs must be clearly labeled, numbered consecutively, and placed within the text at appropriate locations, rather than at the end of the manuscript. All illustrations must be referred to in the text and should be of publication-ready quality.

The journal follows the author–date referencing system. In-text citations should include the author’s surname and year of publication. All cited works must appear in the reference list, arranged alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.

Manuscripts should include 15–30 relevant references, of which:

  • at least 50% must be from reputable academic journals, and

  • at least 50% must be published within the last five (5) years.

References must conform to  latest edition of APA style (7th edition). Authors using reference management software (e.g., EndNote, Mendeley) must remove all field codes before submission.

Footnotes and appendices should be used sparingly and only when essential. Footnotes should appear after acknowledgements (if any) and before the reference list.

REVIEW PROCESS

All articles submitted to e-Bangi Journal of Social Sciences & Humanities are subject to a double-blind peer review process and evaluated by a minimum of two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Publication decisions are made by the Editorial Board based on reviewers’ recommendations.

Manuscripts are assessed according to their relevance to e-Bangi, contribution to the discipline, cogency of analysis, conceptual breadth, clarity of presentation, and technical adequacy. The journal also welcomes innovative ideas, perspectives, and methodological approaches that demonstrate scholarly rigor.

To ensure that manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, the identities of authors are concealed from reviewers throughout the review process. Articles submitted by members of the Editorial Board are subject to the same review procedures as all other submissions.

Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts promptly in response to reviewers’ comments and editorial decisions.
