THE SCHOOL

About the School

The School was formed in 2001, out of the merger between the Department of History, the Department of Political Science, and the Unit of Strategic and Security Studies. Since its formation, the School has been one of the leading teaching and research institutions in the fields of history, political science, and international relations in Malaysia. It is committed to advancing research and producing graduates who will make meaningful contributions to their society.

Research Projects and Niches
Our school members are actively engaged in a wide range of research activities in the fields of history, politics and international relations. They have published their research in a variety of national and international formats. Some of these publications have won prestigious awards, such as the ICAS International Book Prize, the Anugerah Akademi Negara, and the Michael Leifer Memorial Prize. Our journal, Jebat: Journal of History, Politics, and Strategy, continues to be a leading forum of ideas for those researchers writing on aspects of Asian history and politics.
