[ms] Translating Phrases of Al-Idafah of Arab-Malay Using Google Translate
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Technology has created a new style in the translation when the translation machine is designed and created to facilitate
the learning of language and translation. Machine is used to help work done by human. Translation machine and language
has a close relationship with each other. Arabic language consists of a string of phrases that form it. A phrase represent
the portion of verse which has one combination of a particular meaning. Aspect of backup is essential for a word to
complete the meaning of a sentence. In Arabic it has been known as al-Idafah. Automatic machines are only dependent
on the software and words bank, while people use their skills for translating. Both having the ability to translate text,
but however, which translation can be able to produce a good translationy. Therefore, this research wants to see and
analyze the comparison of translation between human and machine in translating the phrase idafah as well as seeing
the advantages and lack between both. Translated text being taken from al-’Ankabut, which work of a famous Egyptian
writer, Mustafa Mahmud. Data analysis were conducted with qualitative methods using descriptive analysis involving
comparison of two categories of engine Google’s translation represents the machine translation and by a human translator,
i.e. Nahmar Jamil. Simple random sampling method used for obtain samples phrases idafah which existing in the novel.
The study found that machine can not afford to translate the phrases idafah perfectly,whereas the human translation still
having a good value and quality compared to the machine.
