[ms] Spiritual Intelligent Relationship of Elderly People with the Religious Practice in the Welfare Home
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Spiritual intelligence is needed in facing the current challenges. Cycle of human life from infants, teenagers, adults and the elderly will certainly face resistance, particularly to the elderly. The study found that many seniors are mengamlami problems in religious practices properly. This situation calls for a medium to determine the relationship with the religious practices of spiritual intelligence. This study aims to examine the concept of spiritual intelligence in Islam, to identify the background of the elderly, analyzes the religious, spiritual intelligence and spiritual intelligence relationship between the domain of religious practice. While the research method chosen is the case study (case study). There are a total of six residents of a home Memories Seremban and six elders from Complex Elderly al-Jenderami, Banting had been chosen by convenience as a participant in the study. In addition, a total of four experts in the field of spiritual intelligence has been selected by purposive as informants. The determination of the number of participants is based on data saturation. Data collection was done through structured interviews and observation. The data analysis was done by using a thematic approach (thematic). Results showed that the Islamic spiritual intelligence is associated with heart, soul, passion and the human mind. Background in the elderly at the Home, this study shows the majority of the elderly participants were aged between 60-80 years, primary education, has worked with government and private sectors and duration of stay in a home is between 1-6 years. The study also found that older religious practices is limited. Forms of religious practices that were implemented by the elderly are the five daily prayers, fasting, paying zakat, perform hajj, reading the Qur’an, remembrance and qiamullail. The results showed that the elderly have four domains of spiritual, namely intelligence al-qalb, intelligence al-nafs, intelligence al-ruh and intelligence al-caql.
