Ciri dan pengaruh stereotaip feminin terhadap pengurusan dalam kalangan penjawat awam (The features and implication of feminine stereotypes in public service management)

Abstract


Artikel ini meneliti tentang ciri dan pengaruh stereotaip feminin terhadap pengurusan dalam kalangan penjawat awam wanita di Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Keningau, Sabah. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif sebagai kaedah utama kajian dengan melibatkan temu bual semi-berstuktur, penyelidikan perpustakaan dan kajian kes.  Seramai lima orang responden telah dipilih untuk mengenal pasti ciri dan pengaruh stereotaip feminin terhadap pengurusan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan wujudnya ciri stereotaip feminin dalam kalangan penjawat awam wanita di Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah Keningau, Sabah dan pengaruhnya terhadap pengurusan iaitu kerja dan kehidupan. Oleh itu, beberapa cadangan yang bersesuaian seperti memberi latihan dan pembangunan untuk mengatasi kelemahan, meningkatkan kemahiran dalam pengurusan dan kehidupan, memberi bimbingan dan kaunseling perlu dilakukan sebagai langkah untuk mengatasi masalah berkaitan dengan pengurusan dan kehidupan bagi mengubah sterotaip gender oleh masyarakat di Sabah, khususnya dan di Malaysia amnya.

This article examines the features and implication of feminine stereotypes on the management of work and life of the public service women employees at the Education Office in the District of Keningau, Sabah. This study used qualitative method involving semi-stuctured interviews, library research and case study.  A total of five (5) respondents were selected as participants in this case study.  The results showed the existence of stereotypical feminine traits among women employees at Education Office in the District of Keningau, Sabah and its impact to the management of work and life.  Therefore, recommendations have been put forward, and these include providing training and development, improvement of management skills and counselling, as guidance in resolving the women problems, particulary on the management of work and life in order to change the gender stereotyping on women of the community in Sabah especialy and Malaysia generally.
