Abstract

Abstract: Occupational stress in organizations is an issue that needs to be prioritized. Past studies reported that ergonomic workstation factors can cause stress among workers. Consistent stress due to ergonomic workstation may create negative impact on employees such as frequent absences from work, internal conflicts, occupational accidents and decrease in work performance. This study aims to examine the relationship between workstation ergonomics and occupational stress. A total of 117 health workers from health clinics were selected using stratified random sampling. Questionnaires were used in the data collection process of the study which covered ergonomic workstation factors, namely people, space and environment as independent variables and job stress as a dependent variable. The study found that the level of awareness of ergonomic aspects in the workplace is at a moderately low level. Findings also show that human factors have a positive and moderate and significant relationship with workstations (r=0.668 n=117 p=0.000). While the multiple regression analysis result, proves that human factors and workspace have a significant relationship with job stress. Overall, the findings of this study prove that ergonomic aspects of work deserve better attention by organizations to ensure that ahuman resources are in a healthy, competitive, and able to work productively.
