Revolusi Pendidikan Kanak-Kanak Melalui Autobiografi Saya Malala (The Revolution of Children’s Education in the Authobiography of I Am Malala)

Abstract


Selaras dengan matlamat Pendidikan Untuk Semua (EFA), sewajarnya pendidikan adalah hak mutlak pada semua kanak-kanak di dunia. Demikan juga UNICEF merupakan badan Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu yang memberi bantuan kemanusiaan dan perkembangan kepada kanak-kanak di seluruh dunia, termasuklah menggalakkan pendidikan untuk kanak-kanak perempuan dan memastikan mereka menghabiskan pendidikan peringkat sekolah rendah sekurang-kurangnya. Perjuangan pembangunan pendidikan untuk kanak-kanak  ini seringkali melibatkan peranan media dan menjadi isu penting dalam kalangan pentadbir dan ahli politik. Namun, secara tidak sedar sumber-sumber daripada genre kesusasteraan khususnya karya autobiografi mampu memupuk minat malah dapat melestarikan pendidikan untuk kanak-kanak. Golongan ini perlu diterapkan nilai-nilai murni dan komunikasi efektif antara mereka yang boleh didapati menerusi kajian tokoh yang dipersembahkan dalam bentuk karya autobiografi. Justeru itu, makalah ini cuba menghuraikan bagaimana genre autobiografi sebagai cabang kepada kepelbagaian karya sastera dapat menghasilkan satu wahana yang dapat memberi citra baru dalam revolusi pendidikan kanak-kanak. Perbincangan ini akan memperlihatkan bagaimana tokoh pendidikan kanak-kanak dari bandar Mingora, iaitu Malala Yousafzai berjuang untuk kanak-kanak perempuan Pakistan sehingga perjuangannya mendapat pengiktirafan Anugerah Nobel-Keamanan pada tahun 2014. Kisah perjuangannya diabadikan melalui karya autobiografi I Am Malala (Saya Malala) . Hakikatnya tulisan perjuangan  Saya Malala yang diabadikan dalam karya autobiografi ini menjadi inspirasi kepada bukan saja kepada masyarakat Pakistan tetapi juga kepada pemimpin dunia dalam usaha  mengiktiraf pendidikan untuk kanak-kanak.

Abstract


In line with the Education For All (EFA), education is an absolute right to all the children in this world. UNICEF as one of the United Nations body provides humanitarian and development programme to children around the world, including promoting education for girls and ensuring at least to complete their primary education. The struggle for children educational development involves the role of the media and is an important issue among administrators and politicians.However, unknowingly sources from the genre of literature, especially autobiographical works can stimulate interest and even preserve education for children. In Literature, the study of figures in the autobiographical works can be an effective medium to cultivate good values to the children. Hence, this paper attempts to explain how the genre of autobiography as one the varieties from the literary works can be used as a new platform in the revolution of children education. This discussion explores how a Children’s Figure Malala Yousafzai from Mingora, a small town in Pakistan; in her autobiography I Am Malala fight for children girls education in Pakistan. In 2014, Malala’s autobiography has been recognized with the Nobel-Peace Award. Malala’s autobiography has inspired the world and triggered world leaders to recognize children education. The story of her struggle depicted in her autobiography I Am Malala has inspired not only Pakistanis but also world leaders in recognizing education for children.
