Abstract
Can Artificial Intelligence Functions as Syariah Advisor? An Analysis on Its Role in Islamic Capital Market Sector
Artificial intelligence technology will have a huge impact on various professional jobs including professions in finance and legal sectors. In actual, there is even a tendency to use artificial intelligence technology in Islamic capital market sectors. There is even a current suggestion to replace the role played by Syariah Advisers with such technology. The research conducted is a pure legal one which is qualitative in nature. A historico-legal approach has been chosen to showcase the role played by Syariah Advisers in actualizing the concept of Islamic urbanism. This concept of urbanism is closely related to artificial intelligence technology and capital market as the main locus in which both operate is in urban areas. The conducted research aims at 3 objectives. It analyses the role and operational of artificial intelligence technology, Islamic capital market as well as the role played by a Syariah Legal Adviser in the said sector. It then identifies problems in the use of artificial intelligence technology in Islamic capital market. It then suggests solutions to the idea of using artificial intelligence technology in Islamic capital market. This article finds that there are limitations to the ability of artificial intelligence technology in replacing the Syariah Advisers roles in the Islamic capital market. This is because even though the artificial intelligence technology is sophisticated, it only addresses the world of physical urban, fails to actualize the concept of urbanism in Islam, and hence incapable of replacing the roles played by Syariah Advisers.
