Abstract


ABSTRACT

India, also known as the Sub-Continent, is one of the areas to be influenced by Islam through da‘wah and futuhat during
early Islamic period. Because of that, Islam grew up until several Islamic kingdoms were established in this area. Such
historical events in India recorded in most of Islamic history masterpieces, including Ibn al-Athir’s work, al-Kamil fi
al-Tarikh. The objective is to examine the historical enhancement of Islam in India, or Sub-Continent, and the argument
on that events in al-Kamil fi al-Tarikh. This study is a qualitative research within used the historical study as a research
design. This study used documentation method to collect the data within focused to al-Kamil fi al-Tarikh. Meanwhile
for data analysis method, this study used descriptive method and historical approach through content analysis and
interpretation of sources based on historical view. The results of study were showing that Ibn al-Athir was discussing
about Islamic history in India in his work. The historical narrative was more focused on that political enhancement in
that area such as futuhat or warfare, the emergence of politics entities and some political figures who are dominant in
shaping political development in India.
