Aziz Abd. Hamid, Mohd. Ezani Hassan, Arawati Agus

Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research explores the practice of Just-In-Time productiob concept in a major manufacturing company in Malaysia and her local parts suppliers. It is found that a modified form of the concept is being practised to suit individual company's operations. The suppliers are able to meet the stringent JIT requirements of the manufacturing company. However, relationships between the manufacturing company and her suppliers, though supportive of JIT, need to be improved through better contractual agreements. The suppliers opinions on the applicability of the JIT production concept in manufactuing in Malaysia are also discussed.
