Abstract


The relationship between Malaysia-India has been through a long history. In fact, based on history, this relationship has occurred since the early period, in the form of commercial and religious activities. The presence of British into the country has resulted in the presence of labors from India and is indirectly became the basis of the relationship between Malaysia and India at later period. In a relationship as a modern state, relationship between two countries occurred after the independence of India in 1947 and Persekutuan Tanah Melayu (later Malaysia) in 1957. After Malaya’s independence, India is among the countries earliest to establish diplomatic relations with the country. This relationship continues to grow, not just on diplomatic relations only, but in fact also includes economic, social and tourism. This article focus on two aspects. First, on the historical background of the relationship between the Malaysian-Indian, secondly, on the achievements reached by the two countries in various field.
