Abstract


This article discusses the development of education in the Malaysian Islah Congregation (JIM) movement in Malaysia, 1990-2000. After independence in 1957, Islamic flow education was less concentrated in the education system in Malaysia. As such, there are emerging Islamic organizations that have developed educational systems based on Islamic teachings to meet the demands of the people. Furthermore, significant awareness among the Malay community in Malaysia in particular the importance of the flow of Islamic education that can meet the needs of the world and the hereafter. The demand for education among Islamic sects in the community is increasing by the year 1990. Thus, the objective of this study was to identify the process of formation of education system in JIM movement up to 2000. This study uses historical discipline approach focusing on primary sources such as JIM Islamic records and documents as well as secondary sources. The results showed that the flow of Islamic education provided by the Islamic movement JIM been able to meet the demands of the Muslim Malay community in Malaysia. The JIM Islamic Movement is one of the organizations that has provided the needs of Islamic education using a community-based approach. JIM Islamic movement societal approach was the best way to spread the message of Islam through education to achieve prosperity and happiness of the Malay community in Malaysia.
