THE ROLE OF ISLAMIC STUDIES IN MUSLIM CIVILIZATION IN THE GLOBALIZED WORLD: MALAYSIAN EXPERIENCE (Peranan Pengajian Islam Dalam Tamadun Islam Dalam Dunia Globalisasi: Pengalaman Malaysia)

Abstract


Proses globalisasi telah memudahkan pergerakan penyelidik, institusi pengajian dan program-program. Kesan daripada ini, semakin banyak tumpuan telah diberi oleh para intelek kepada pengajian dan peradaban Islam. Negara- negara barat dan timur, terutamanya Malaysia berhasrat untuk memainkan peranan utama dalam memajukan institusi pengajian Islam ke peringkat yang lebih tinggi. Dalam mencapai matlamat tersebut, banyak institusi di Malaysia yang  memperkenalkan  pengajian  Islam  dalam  bahasa  Inggeris  dan  Arab selain daripada bahasa Melayu. Institusi-institusi ini telah juga menjemput ilmuwan dari seluruh pelusuk dunia. Proses ini telah memperkenalkan institusi- institusi  pengajian  tinggi  di  Malaysia  ke  segenap  pelusuk  dunia.  Kajian ini  menonjolkan  peranan  yang  dimainkan  oleh  Malaysia  dalam  pengajian Islam untuk membangkitkan kembali tamadun Islam dalam pengajian tinggi. Perhatian khusus diberikan kepada proses globalisasi dan hubungkaitnya dengan teknologi terkini yang melampaui sempadan f izikal dan rohani.
