Abstract


ABSTRAK

 

Selepas merdeka pada tahun 1957, Kuala Lumpur merupakan aset negara yang paling bernilai. Kuala Lumpur yang membangun maju pada zaman sekarang adalah hasil daripada usaha tokoh-tokoh yang berhabisan mempertahankan tanah air. Haji Abdullah Hukum merupakan antara perintis yang terlibat dalam pembangunan Kuala Lumpur pada tahun 1880-an dan beliau turut membuka kawasan Pudu-Bukit Bintang serta Sungai Putih yang kini dikenali sebagai Bangsar.Hasil daripada kerajinan Haji Abdullah Hukum dalam membangunkan Kuala Lumpur melalui ekonomi. Objektif kajian ini adalah bertujuan untuk meneliti sejauh mana peranan Abdullah Hukum dalam perkembangan di Kuala Lumpur. Kajian ini telah menggunakan kaedah pensejarahan dan analisis kandungan iaitu menghimpunkan bahan-bahan rujukan dan maklumat yang didapati melalui internet. Bagi mengukuhkan lagi maklumat kajian, pengkaji turut menggunakan kaedah kajian lapangan dan temubual. Pengkaji telah mengunjungi kawasan kajian dan menemubual responden untuk mendapatkan maklumat secara lebih terperinci. Kajian ini mengupas dan menjelaskan peranan Abdullah Hukum yang dapat mengembangkan Kuala Lumpur menerusi masyarakat yang menetap di Bangsar yang majoritinya adalah kaum Melayu. Haji Abdullah Hukum membuka ruang kepada masyarakat Melayu untuk menaikan taraf mereka melalui ekonomi dengan pembukaan Bangsar dan hasil daripada temu bual bersama Haji Muhamad Rahman yang merupakan penduduk asal di Kampung Haji Abdullah Hukum.

ABSTRACT

 

After independence in 1957, Kuala Lumpur was the nation's most valuable asset. Kuala Lumpur, which is developing in the present age, is the result of the efforts of figures who fought to defend the motherland. Haji Abdullah Hukum was one of the pioneers involved in the development of Kuala Lumpur in the 1880s and he also opened the Pudu-Bukit Bintang area and Sungai Putih which is now known as Bangsar. The result of Haji Abdullah Hukum's craft in developing Kuala Lumpur through the economy. The objective of this study is to examine the extent of Abdullah Hukum's role in the development of Kuala Lumpur. This study has used the method of historiography and content analysis, which is to gather reference materials and information found through the internet. In order to further strengthen the research information, the researcher also used field research and interview methods. The researcher visited the study area and interviewed respondents to obtain more detailed information. This study examines and explains the role of Abdullah Hukum who was able to develop Kuala Lumpur through the community living in Bangsar, the majority of whom are Malays. Haji Abdullah Hukum opened space for the Malay community to upgrade themselves through the economy with the opening of Bangsar and an interview with Haji Rahman who is a resident of Haji Abdullah Hukum's village
