APPLICATION OF RASCH MODEL IN VALIDATING THE VERB ITEMS OF QURANIC VOCABULARY TEST (QVT) [APLIKASI MODEL RASCH BAGI KESAHAN ITEM KOSA KATA KERJA QURANIC VOCABULARY TEST (QVT)]

Abstract


al-Quran diturunkan untuk difahami isi kandungannya. Pemahaman al-Quran di peringkat asas melibatkan pengetahuan makna kosa katanya. Justeru, satu ujian bagi mengukur tahap penguasaan makna kosa kata al-Quran wajar dibina. Kajian rintis ini bertujuan membina instrumen Quranic Vocabulary Test (QVT) dan menilai kesahan dan kebolehpercayaannya. Artikel ini melaporkan penilaian kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan sebahagian daripada instrumen tersebut. Melalui pendekatan kuantitatif, 130 item kata kerja dalam al-Quran dipilih secara persampelan sistematik dari 500 kosa kata kekerapan tertinggi yang disenaraikan dalam The Quranic Arabic Corpus. Item-item ini dibahagikan kepada 3 set ujian, setiap set mengandungi 40 item berbeza dan 10 item sepunya. Set ujian ini ditadbir menggunakan Google Form kepada 69 orang mahasiswa mewakili pelbagai jurusan di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Data dianalisis menggunakan Model Rasch melalui perisian Winsteps versi 4.5.4. Nilai kebolehpercayaan kesemua set ini sama ada dengan indeks Cronbach Alpha (α) mahupun person reliability melebihi 0.8. Secara keseluruhannya, nilai infit sebagai indikator kualiti item ujian menunjukkan hampir kesemua item adalah produktif untuk mengukur pengetahuan makna kata kerja al-Quran dalam kalangan responden. Kajian ini menunjukkan kebolehukuran pengetahuan kosa kata al-Quran. Ia perlu dilanjutkan dan diperluaskan sampelnya bagi meningkatkan nilai kesahan QVT sehingga dapat mengukur saiz kosa kata al-Quran yang tepat dalam kalangan mereka yang mempelajari jurusan al-Quran atau Pengajian Islam mahupun orang awam.

The Qur'an was revealed to understand its contents. Understanding the Qur'an at the basic level involves knowledge of the meaning of its vocabulary. Therefore, a test to measure the level of mastery of the meaning of the vocabulary of the Quran should be built. This pilot study aims to build the Quranic Vocabulary Test (QVT) instrument and evaluate its validity and reliability. This article reports on the validity and reliability assessment of some of these instruments. Through a quantitative approach, 130 verb items in the Quran were systematically sampled from the 500 highest frequency vocabulary listed in The Quranic Arabic Corpus. These items are divided into 3 test sets, each set containing 40 different items and 10 common items. This test set was administered using Google Form to 69 students representing various majors at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Data were analyzed using the Rasch Model through Winsteps software version 4.5.4. The reliability values of all these sets either with the Cronbach Alpha index (α) or person reliability exceed 0.8. Overall, the value of infit as an indicator of the quality of test items shows that almost all items are productive to measure knowledge of the meaning of Quranic verbs among respondents. This study has indicated the measurability of Quranic vocabulary knowledge. It deserves further advancement and expanded to a wider sample. This would increase the validity and ability of QVT to measure with precision the Quran vocabulary among those studying the Quran or Islamic Studies as well as the general public.
