A Validated Big Data Management Model for Malaysian District Education Offices

Abstract


The use of big data as a result of Industrial Revolution 4.0 has significantly improved the field of education by contributing to quality education. Big data requires systematic management and a complete process cycle to ensure its quality is well maintained. Previous studies have produced several big data management models but it does not meet the specific requirements of big data management in district education office where the model does not have a specific governance process and some are produced by emphasizing the data analytics aspect only. The District Education Office Excellence Evaluation Report (Laporan Penilaian Kecemerlangan Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah) (PKPPD, DTP) shows that there are still District Education Offices (PPD) that do not reach the standard level of data management. Therefore, a study was conducted to develop a PPD big data management model in Malaysia that has a complete cycle process. A quantitative study using the PLS SEM method involving a total of 156 respondents who are all public data managers in PPD and JPN throughout Malaysia were conducted. A pilot study was conducted on 30 respondents and the Cronbach's alpha value obtained exceeded 0.9. Based on the analysis of the reflective measurement model and the structural model using the PLS SEM technique, the results of the study show that the study has successfully developed a model that has a complete cycle process that is suitable and can be used.
