Abstract

Abstract

E-learning platform is a technology used in most academic institutions. The services are provided through the e-learning platform as an alternative to conventional methods. However, the use of e-learning among consumers comprising students and schoolteachers in Malaysia is still unsatisfactory. Previous studies have also focused on the use and acceptance of e-learning among consumers but only in schools. Therefore, the study was conducted to identify the level of usage and acceptance of e-learning platform especially VLE Frog among students and teachers at Vocational College (KV). KV is one of the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) institutes in Malaysia offering vocational certificate and diploma level education to high school students. The study was conducted using an online interview method through WhatsApp with students and teachers and coded into themes using NVIVO. The interview results show that the e-learning usage rate was less satisfactory, and less usage value. Students still relies on teachers in usage of e-learning and the requirement for collaborations between both parties are essential to assist with two-way learning to enhance the learning process. Therefore, the results of the study will be used to reinforce the e-learning development model based on Means-End-Chain (MEC) to identify the critical value and the cognitive structure of students and teachers of e-learning usages in KV. The study is expected to guide KV direction towards digital transformation for active e-learning usage.
