Pendekatan Pelancongan Wilayah di Malaysia: Senario dari 2008-2012 (Regional Tourism Approaches in Malaysia: A Scenario from 2008-2012)

Abstract


Regional tourism refers to the offering and networking of tourism activity in areas providing various product including
eco-tourism, coastal tourism, cultural tourism, heritage and island tourism. These products have attracted tourist and increasingly becoming a vital asset in driving the regional economic corridor development especially in ECER, NCER and the Iskandar Development Region (IDR). However, this conceptual has yet to be proven in terms of their performance and effectiveness. This article aims to examine the developmental scenario and how effective this concept in contributing to the sustainable tourism region.

Abstrak

Pelancongan wilayah merujuk kepada penawaran dan jaringan aktiviti pelancongan di sesebuah kawasan yang melibatkan produk-produk seperti ekopelancongan, pelancongan pesisiran pantai, pelancongan budaya, warisan dan kepulauan. Produk-produk pelancongan ini telah menjadi daya tarikan pelancong dan juga aset bagi memacu pembangunan di sesebuah koridor ekonomi wilayah, khususnya di wilayah ECER, NCER dan Wilayah Pembangunan Iskandar (IDR). Walau bagaimanapun sehingga kini, secara konseptualnya tahap pencapaian dan keberkesanannya masih belum dikenal pasti. Justeru, artikel ini bertujuan mengenal pasti pencapaian dan meneliti sejauh mana keberkesanan konsep ini bagi membangunkan pelancongan wilayah secara lestari.
