Aplikasi Konsep Ta’awun Dalam Praktis Kerja Sosial Di Malaysia (Application On Ta’awun Concept In Social Work Practice In Malaysia)

Abstract


Artikel ini adalah mengenai kajian yang telah dijalankan kepada pekerja sosial di Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Malaysia. Kajian tersebut bertujuan untuk meneroka pengetahuan pekerja sosial mengenai konsep ta’awun dalam praktis kerja sosial dan sejauh mana ia diaplikasi di Malaysia. Seramai lapan orang pekerja sosial telah ditemu bual secara mendalam dengan menggunakan teknik temu bual separa struktur. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa majoriti responden tidak mempunyai pengetahuan dalam konsep ta’awun. Mereka juga tidak didedahkan dengan perkaitan antara konsep ta’awundengan profesion kerja sosial. Bagi pekerja sosial yang mempunyai latar belakang dari sekolah agama, konsep ta’awun sememangnya telah mereka fahami kerana mereka telah diterapkan dengan konsep tersebut dari zaman persekolahan. Manakala bagi pekerja sosial yang tidak mempunyai latar belakang sekolah agama, mereka kurang memahami konsep ta’awun. Namun demikian, dapatan kajian menunjukkan semua responden sememangnya mengaplikasi konsep ta’awun dalam profesion mereka. Malahan, kod etika kerja sosial oleh National Association of Social Workers sangat berkait rapat dengan konsep ta’awun apabila menggalakkan masyarakat untuk memberi khidmat bantuan melebihi keperluan sendiri dan menjaga hubungan sesama manusia dengan tidak menindas. Ringkasnya, praktis kerja sosial yang diamalkan di Malaysia adalah seiring dengan kehendak konsep ta’awun yang disarankan dalam ajaran agama Islam.

Abstract

This article is about a study conducted amongst social workers at the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia. This study aimed to explore the knowledge of social workers on the concept of ta'awun in the practice of social work and how this have been applied in Malaysia. A total of eight social workers were interviewed in depth using a semi-structured interview technique. The results showed that the majority of respondents had no knowledge in ta'awun concept. They were also not exposed to general knowledge of the relationship between the profession of social work with Islam. For those who came from religious school backgrounds, the concept of ta'awun has been understood by them because they have been applied with that concept from school age. While for those who did not have religious school backgrounds, they were lack understanding about the concept of ta'awun. Homever, findings also found outthatall respondents were already applied the concept of ta’awun in their practice. Hence, the code of ethics of social work by the National Association of Social Workers was closely associated with the concept ta'awun when encouraging people to give service exceed the needs of its own and the importance of human relationship with no oppressive. In summary, social work practice applied in Malaysia was in line with the need of concept of ta’awun which has been imposed in Islamic teaching.
