The Abject Lover of the Courtly Love Era

Abstract

This essay discusses the courtly love era. It is viewed through the works of two poets, Samuel Daniel and Sir Walter Raleigh. The discussion is carried out via the psychoanalysis lens. It defines what courtly love is and how court poets used poetry to woo the ladies. The discussion defines love and sexual desire that was portrayed through the poems.
